Specifically, are there minimum and maximum length restrictions? I am reviewing some internal standards and need to know if we need to change what we have.

No standards that I know of. However, if you want to process documents through the use of MICR documents, there are limits on the account number length, so you would have to be sure that your accounts numbers where less than that or you had some algorithm that worked.
