How are you displaying the unique identifier on business cards and your web page?
I have seen
NMLS#
NHMLS #
and NHMLSR Number.

I do not see anything that describes what we should use.
The loan applications refer to it as the unique loan number!

Are most of you using NMLS # ??

That's what we're using.

Any advice as to whether we should put the Bank NLMS # as well as the individual MLO's NMLS # on business cards and email signatures?

No requirement i know of to put the bank's number anywhere....think that choice would be up to you and your bank.

We are not putting the bank's number anywhere.

MLOs must put their number in their email signature, and in their initial written correspondence. We are not putting any NMLS numbers on business cards.

We are putting both on the 1003.

No, we are doing it just on business cards, email address and MLO signed correspondence.

We are doing them on business cards, emails, correspondence, and in the lobby. The lobby isn't a requirement, but we only have 3 MLOs. Therefore, I listed the MLOs name and numbers, the bank's number, and the website you can view the MLOs information.

*Consumers may look up (Bank) and our Mortgage Loan Originators by their NMLS ID # at http://www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org/.

Regarding the requirement for an institution to make the unique identifiers of its registered MLOs available to consumers in a manner and method that is practicable, how will you be doing this? We have batted around lobby display, Web site, lobby display advising the consumer to ask a bank employee for the information . . .

We had an MLO express reservations about lobby posters, saying some evildoer might use her NMLS# to make bad or fraudulent loans. Seems somewhat farfetched, but given the prevalence of mortgage fraud, maybe her fears are well-grounded.

There is too much required junk that nobody reads in the lobby as it is now....so we are not putting anything up in our lobby.

Our list is available upon request. We are not advertising that a list in available upon request. There is no requirement to tell customers that it is available. The requirement is simply to make it available and to give out your individual number before acting as an MLO.

Honestly, no one is going to ask for the list, nor is anyone going to look up the MLOs number in the NMLS. This is going to be just like the CRA public file. Only examiners and auditors will ask for this info.

At this point we are going to add it to our loan app section of our web site and tossing the idea of putting a list in our branches that has the MOL name and their number on it. Any issues with this process that I’m not aware of?

The only issue I can see would be maintance when your MLOs turnover. Depending on how your website works, you may face increased costs when you need to update the list.
