We have an internal policy that requires cash be deposited prior to cash purchase of any monetary instrument. $11,000 cash was deposited then a cashiers check in same amount was purchased. On the CTR, should I check box #31 (Negotiable instrument purchased) and #34 (deposit/withdrawal)?

thx!

And don't forget that if a customer deposits cash of $3,000 or over during the day and also buys a monetary instrument for $3,000 through $10,000, it does not relieve you of the monetary instrument record keeping provisions.

Thanks. While we are on the subject, if you have a customer bring in cash, lets say $5000, and then they purchase a cashiers check for $12,000 using that cash and funds from their account, would you list that in your MIL? I think yes but wanted feedback.

Thanks

Yes, as cash in the amount of $3,000 to $10,000 inclusively was used in the purchase.
