Love Sonja's numbers! I like most of the contemporary pieces, but all the rolling around on the floor gets old in a hurry.

By the way, what is up with the "guest judge" not being any associated with current dance? Last week we had a comedic actress, this week it was a has-been?
These kids deserve people who can help them further their careers as guest judges! I also find who they select to be the guests judges as odd. However, I don't know if I would call Debbie Reynolds a has been.

The problem with guest judges is that they generally don't judge but just gush how they liked the dance. Love to see some former winners or top 10 or producers or directors who can give good constructive comments.

That's what they did with America's Best Dance Crew though, and I thought the former winner spent more time gushing over the performers than anyone else. (JC Chasez, however, always had good constructive criticism.)

I saw Megan Mullaly in Young Frankenstein on Broadway a few years ago, and she was fantastic. I believe she's done something more recently, as well...
That said, I still think most of the guest judges that have been on are more of the gushing type than the critiquing type that can actually help a dancer improve.

I can't believe they sent Miranda home. I thought she had improved the most and really outshone the others. That being said, have to admit I liked Kristen Chenowith. She was a hoot--and loved that they mocked Lil C about his use of words. But the best part of the whole show, to me, was the award winning couple who guest danced. Liked the wheelchair one, but the other couple was absolutely astonishing. Could not believe their lifts!

I really liked Miranda too. I would have sent Angela home. Her dance for your life was not very good at all.
I know people have different ideas of what "dance" is, but mine does not include wheelchairs. That was weird.
The other couple was fantastic! It all looked so effortless - it was beautiful.

I think interest has waned this year for this show. I was so looking foreward to it, but have to say the judges are driving me crazy, the guest judges detract rather than add to the show, the choreography doesn't seem as sharp, and the contestants just don't have the excitement factor in their performances. Sigh........

Wow, I think I feel the same way! The dances for sure have been way less exciting (except for travis and sonja...i almost always liek theirs). And hardly any ballroom this year? I think that was a great aspect to the show, to really get the dancers to learn new stuff. so many dancers cross-train, but how many of them cross into ballroom?

I too miss the diversity of all genres. I like hip hop and contemporary every now and then, but a steady diet is boring. I also noticed the judges spend more time gushing over the choreographer than the dancers. And then Nigel last night saying Chris danced a fantastic dance for your life, but didn't bring his game to dances with his partner. So, why have the dance for your life then? Like when Ryan was saved over Iveta. I miss the excitement of Sabra,Twitch, Legacy, Karen, Janine,Billy,Lauren....

Waltz and Salsa were two out of the 7 dances. I would like to see more Ballet. They are bringing in a lot of new choreographers and I miss some of the old ones. And where has Mia Michaels been?? Mia is going to be MIA as long as Ryan is involved. She's a former student of Mia's.

Down to the final 10--anyone still watching? Ryan finally went home--no surprise there. With what I have seen, I think Melanie will take the prize.
