I hate to even say this but about an hour ago when I went out to take care of my horse...I had to put a jacket on. It was 55!!! Woohoo!

A friend of mine who is an Emergency Manager in our state was injecting some humor in his daily weather facebook post. It started out --

"Cooler today with a high of 109!"

Decided maybe I should take a jacket to work in case I get cold!

We're going to 110 today with no break in the next 5 days. It's too hot to even go to the pool.

This is what annoys the heck out of me! Honestly, why can't the temp be kept the same indoors year round? Imagine how much less of an energy drain that would be.

115 when I left work yesterday. 102 at 9:45 PM last night. 101 in OKC right now with predicted high of 110. We have no hay and no water and grass burnt up some time ago. Anything you eat is about to go through the roof! If the danged pot growers were griping on some web site they said!

When I got in the truck to come back to work at 1:00, it was 105. I am afraid Texas is going to top 1980's record of 42 consecutive days over 100. We've already had 33 days, and it looks like there is no end in sight...

My poor cows, calving in this weather. I have some hay and some water, but others in this area are just about out.

It's still too hot here, but now it is humid with rain on and off for a few days. I am not used to humidity with this heat...it is just plain gross!

Had a wicked downpour last night on the way home, then the mess cleared out. It had cooled down a bit over the last week, but is a very comfy 77 now.

I was actually being sarcastic about my friends post of cooler today at only 109! But I do sometimes have to turn on my space heater at work. But my thermostat is tied to the President's office and mine is a lot smaller and he wears long sleeve shirts.

Our offices up here (second floor - accounting, compliance, loan review, credit analyst) were add-ons. When this building was constructed 11 years ago they never thought about putting people in the attic. We have to freeze in the moring so we're not sweating so bad in the afternoon. It was 67 degrees in my office yesterday morning and 79 degrees out by the Loan Review Officer's desk in the afternoon.

We have severe temps too, our building is freezing all day, then we go out and get smacked in the face with the hot air.

We have triple digits outside and I need to bring a sweater to work. crazy

I remember experiencing the opposite of this when I would visit family in Chicago. It is freezing outside so you have to wear heavy clothes. Then you go into a store and the heat is blazing!

It's 92 here <don't know the heat index>; however it's cloudy and we have a 50-60% chance of rain tonight and tomorrow.

I'm from a much cooler state than the state of Texas, however my daughter will be heading to Weatherford, TX next week to attend college and will be taking her horses with her. Just wondering, from everything I have heard about the drought, what the price for alfalfa hay is in that area?

out of the frying pan...
I was in the saddle at 7:30 Saturday morning. The heat index was already 95 (got to 110 that afternoon). Only rode for an hour, took lots of breaks and was careful to stay in as much shade as possible once the sun came up.

Still almost overheated my horse.

The show this coming weekend is going to suck. frown
