My current title is AVP and I have been in Compliance for over 6 years now. Normally, I don't like to disclose my salary but I am doing so to get a second opinion.

Salary: $56K
Benefit: Premium is 100% employer sponsored. I only pay the
$10 co-pay on each visit.

Is what I'm making considered fair as a total compensation and benefit package?

Please explain compliance. Are you the compliance officer, auditor or other. I am sorry AVP does not mean anything to me. Banks tend to name AVP, VP and SVP all the time.

My position title is Assistant Compliance Officer. I am the middle manager in our bank's compliance department, which is governed by a Senior Compliance Officer.

I would recommend you call a head hunter and find out where you stand. You could always call Robert Half.

There are far too many variables for any of us to be able to say if it is fair or not. Bank size, bank condition, product lines, overall pay scale of the institution, etc. Also benefits, working conditions, co-workers, commute time, and other personal factors.

The only one whose opinion matters, really, is you. If you think it's not fair, it may be time to move on.

That insurance benefit is worth a lot. Don't lose sight of that when comparing.

Yup. I'm in the NY metro areas as well and I don't know any banks that cover 100%. You're salary sounds a little bit low for your position though.

I think your base salary is low for your area and certifications.

That is tough when the subway clerks and garbage men make more.

Everyone gets a different deal. If you're not happy, say so - ask for more, or find more.

I don't see many banks giving pay raises and promotions just because you've been there X years. It depends on needs, performance, other skills, and more.
