I know this is a pretty basic question but my tired brain won't allow me to pull out the answer so forgive my stupid question. Reg CC states that the Funds Availability Schedule does not apply to savings accounts BUT does that mean we cannot place a hold on checks deposited into a savings account...or simply that the schedule of availability does not apply to those holds??

Unless you are in a state that requires you to treat savings accounts the same as transaction accounts

A hold in a savings account can be for however long you wait, e.g., 90 days or whatever ices your cupcake.

If you are located in one of the states which Regulation CC shows as having state pre-emption, you may want to review Appendix F for any additional state requirements, such as savings accounts possibly being covered.

We base our holds on checks into savings accounts on our internal policy.
