The Big 12-10-now 9 isn't very feasible in my opinion. And if to get back to 12 (which is what i think it takes to make it feasible) means adding SMU, Houston, and the like; i guess i have to disagree. I'd love to see the Big 12 thrive with 3 new schools like Notre Dame, Boise State and Lousiville, but i don't want to see the Big 12 add any more texas schools of little value. If it comes to that, i think i'd prefer the Pac-12.

Actually Pup...i agree. I'd prefer a switch to the Big 10, but i don't think that happens.

Big X is more of a draw from a matchup standpoint, unless Nebraska signed with the agreement that we can't follow them (fraidy cats), which wouldn't be the case.
I'd love to continue the OU/NE rivalry.
Also, I'm from Iowa, so I'd love it for personal reasons.
Also, also, Bob Stoops and Chuck Long and the Stoops Brothers all played for Iowa....not that it matters to OU.
Also, also, also, I can't stand the Pac 10+, and I REALLY don't want my games airing at 9-10 every Saturday night. The travel and 2 time zone change wouldn't make ANY sense.

Yep, i agree with all of what you said, which is why i'd prefer the Big 10 also. Haven't heard one peep that that might be an option, but who knows, maybe.

It still boggles my mind that the Big XII, the 2nd best football conference and the 2nd best basketball conference, couldn't pull it together!
I'm guessing that when Dan Beebe no longer has his Big XII job, he'll be sniffing aroung UT for a "fresh start".
Just as long as K-State and KU don't get hung out to dry and left for the MVC or CUSA to pick up, I'm okay!
Go CATS!

BTW - Can you imagine K-State, KU and Mizzou in the Big East? It could be pretty great...

Basketball-wise, the Big East would be a great conference. Football-wise, eh.

It still boggles my mind that the Big XII, the 2nd best football conference and the 2nd best basketball conference, couldn't pull it together! I suppose you could make an argument for 2nd best in football, but basketball? NO WAY. AT LEAST three conferences are MILES ahead of the Little 12 (Big East, ACC, B1G TEN) and others have a strong top that rivals KU, Mizzou, et al (who else IS there, anyway?) - For instance, the Pac 12. I'm looking forward to the B1G Ten picking up Mizzou, KU, Rutgers, and someone else (Syracuse, maybe?) and being the greatest across the board. May not have teams go undefeated, but they will surely be the best and most competitive conference across all sports and academically.

I agree that the Big 12 isn't (currently at least) the 2nd best basketball conference, but the Pac 12 as a basketball conference? Seriously? Wasn't it just last year that zero Pac 10 schools were ranked at tournament time and none or maybe only one of them had 20 wins?

One year does not a trend make. UCLA, Arizona, Washington are all usually strong. Cal and USC can compete. There's not that much balance over the years in the Big 12 hoops.

OU, OSU, Texas A&M, Baylor and Texas are generally strong too, but you seemed to dismiss them from your post.

The Big East is probably toast if this mega-conference thing starts to roll. Reports are that West Virginia is high on the list to be the SEC's 14th team. The 16-team thing won't happen unless the TV contracts are increased. It's all about money, and no one wants to split the same $ 16 ways that they are now splitting 10 or 12.
KU, KState & Mizzou to the Big East isn't going to excite anyone out here. The Big East would like Maryland, BC, and maybe someone like Houston to pair with TCU.

Why all this talk about basketball in a football thread. That's like discussing soccer in a sports thread.

I know this would never happen, but I would like to see the Big 10 have two 10 team divisions with a championship game to determine the BIG 10 winner. You play everyone in your division (9 games) 1 at large game (warm up or power boosting game) and 1 from the other division (natural or historical rivals i.e. UM vs OSU).
Those division would look like this:
Leaders = OSU, Penn State, Purdue, Wisc, Illinios, Indiana, WVU, Pitt, Louisville and UC.
Legends = Iowa, Mich, Mich St, Minn, Nebraska, Northwestern, Kansas U, K-State, Missouri and Iowa State.

9-6 in the 4th quarter, that was SEC football at it's finest. Yawn. And what's with the Thursday night game? The Big East used to get ripped for playing Thursday nights.
