Not quite. In this game there is 0% chance to add only a point to the win column. This this is manipulative statistics. Effectively the score is tied as if LSU and Alabama were to have taken on two other teams (presumably if you look at rank), they would have gone 2-0. Thus they win with an 8-2 record and won the head to head against the Big XII. They also won the head to head match up with their third best Western division team against the 2nd best Big XII team.

If you take that into account it seems rather ridiculous to still be making the comparison.

Willie still likes bacon, even thought the CATS couldn't pull off the win. EMAW!!

Thoughts on the weekend:
1. The Cotton Bowl does it up right!
2.Jerry's World is pretty amazing, but it could use two taxi stands.
3. Rangers Ballpark is pretty.

You get 6 wins. We get 6 wins. Because...hold your breath, 6 teams in each conference won bowl games (gasp).

Losses don't come into play, but if you record what each team does, the SEC teams will have 6 wins and 3 losses.

Tie breaker won it for Happy.

I had no bet with you. I do not know what you are talking about. I think you are mistaking me for Happy. That is why I stated what I did which was that I am merely stating that the SEC proved its superiority.

I am simply stating you cannot compare as a win percentage the two conferences for the simple reason that the SEC would already be handicapped with one 50% game.

The other reason is the obvious one, that bowl games are kind of a [censored] shoot. Don't get me wrong, many times the better team does win. But more often than not, the most motivated team wins which may not be the best team.

But don't think that since you are guaranteed a win by having two teams playing each other that you get a 2nd win just because.

The SEC's bowl record, for better or worse, is 6-3. That cannot be changed even with fuzzy math or biases statistics. 6 teams will have won, and 3 teams will have lost.

It's the closest thing to an arbitrary wager that we could agree on. This takes into account the bottom of the bowl-eligible teams, and the heart of the argument from WAY back when was that the bottom feeders had to factor into the equation when discussing strength of schedule.

If I was trying to twist stats, I'd point out that 80% of the Big XII was bowl-eligible and playing in bowl games while only 75% of the SEC was. Personally, I think that would be a reach in trying to make my argument, so I don't consider that. Until the Big XII adds teams, there will be no legitimate comparison, in my opinion.

That said, I am still loyal to the Big XII as these are the teams I know and cheer for. Just as I'm a Denver fan, and I took pride when Denver won the Division many years ago and it was the toughest in football (MANY years ago). I'll cheer for all Big XII teams when they are not playing against OU, as that is MY team.

Time will tell how WV and TCU turn out and if others will join the Big XII to help give us a chance to compete as a conference. For now, I lost my wager and must defer to the SEC. Arkansas outplayed what I had thought of them. I had underestimated them, to be sure.

I didnt say you get a second win. In fact my first reference to the game was that it should not count. But I think the way you and Happy did the bet was the most fair.

What I was complaining about was I believed that you were using the win % (wrongfully - my apologies). I stated that a win % was theoretically an invalid method because you had the anomaly of an automatic win and automatic loss for one side. It could have worked both ways, for or against the SEC depending on how your bet played out. But I think how you and Happy did it gave you both a fair opportunity to win.

So what are you and raitch going to do? Run around naked? Raitch has been oddly absent from the forums lately.

Not exactly odd to me, I called a ten point win for Bama. In fact if you go through this thread I called LSU to win the first matchup. Although I missed some other games the only real miss that I had this year was OU vs OSU. Oklahoma is a far worse team than I had previously thought. But I am sure Landry Jones will have a breakout year next year. LOL!

wow...talk about a one-sided game. Bama outcoached, outplayed, outkicked, outeverythinged over LSU. Although LSU did set several BCS records...fewest first downs, fewest yards rushing, fewest yards passing, only once across the 50...i'm sure there were others, but I stopped watching this painful display.

I didn't get the chance to actually watch my team win, but I did follow the score and when it was 12-0, I went to bed knowing that we were once again National Champs!

I know that Les Miles sometimes has problems with clock management, but does he now have problems with calendar management as well? Did he forget that the game was yesterday? Man, talk about not showing up.

i think our mild winter had him thinking this was the spring scrimmage game...and his comments after the game that "we'll get them next time" was bizarre...

it was very evident that whatever film study Saban did and the adjustmetns he made had his team ready for everything LSU tried. Bama certainly is deserving of the national championship title.

Well I tend to disagree about this bizarreness of the outcome. I think the first time they met that Alabama was better in every area except for Special Teams. This cost them the game. Their strategy was great, limit mistakes, improved kicking (in a dome) and we win..... and they did.
