Does anyone know how to contact the cfpb with a question on RESPA? I called the RESPA phone # at HUD and was told that the cfpb now handles RESPA.

From HUD's RESPA page:

Effective July 21, 2011, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) will be administered and enforced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

If you are a consumer with a question or complaint related to your mortgage or mortgage servicer, please contact the CFPB’s Consumer Response team at 855-411-2372 (855-729-2372 TTY/TDD) or click here.

If you are a settlement service provider with questions about RESPA, please email the CFPB at CFPB_RESPAInquiries@cfpb.gov.

Don't hold your breath. I emailed them, oh, 6 weeks ago and still haven't heard back.

They are probably scratching their heads trying to figure out how HUD mangled RESPA up so bad, and are just as confused as we are! laugh

Thanks all. I sent an email to RESPAInquiries@cfpb.gov(be sure to type it exactly with caps/smalls in the right places) and have received a phone call back. The cfpb personnel I have talked to so far have been very pleseant - that's a bright spot!
