If a customer brings in a $20,000 check drawn on another bank, deposits $5,000 to his checking account and takes the remaining $15,000 as cash back...

(1)Do I check box 32 "negotiable instrument cashed" only and list no account numbers in 35 (since the cash didn't affect the deposit account), or

(2)Do I check box 32 and 34 "Deposits/Withdrawals" and list the customers checking account number in 35 to describe the entire transaction?

I'm leaning towards option 1.

Negotiable instrument cashed.

Agree -- Option 1.
