Oh got it - totally thought you were talking about her team. Yes, naive, but generally good-hearted and they care for Katniss.

I'm also not a big fan of political books, but I actually liked Wicked. I thought the whole dynamic of her living with the wife was really interesting.

Has anyone tried the Tiger's Curse? Someone told me that that book and it's sequel put the first Twilight to shame?!?!?
(Those are strong words to me!) I'm picking the first two up from our library today. I'll let you know how they are...

Just finished Lee Child's Persuader. Now I'm in literary limbo for a bit. Maybe I'll grab a couple of freebies or cheap reads to get me through the weekend.

Thanks, manimal! A friend of mine is going to let me borrow them after she reads them. Our library does not have either and they are over $25 each at our local bookstore. I just hate paying that much for a let down.

I have no idea what the heck he will read (Louis L'Amor probably), but my dad, 78 years old, the man who hands me his phone and says "how do you turn this thing on", The man that looks at his PC notebook ans says, "How do you open this stupid thing".......that man, has a NOOK! Did you feel that...? That SHIVER... That was Satan quivering in the dark, because He11 just froze over!

One for women's book clubs: Jillian Cantor, The Transformation of Things. An easy read with a truly surprising twist at the end.

If you are looking for a light read along the lines of the Cat Who series check out Sofie Kelly and Curiosity Thrilled the Cat. For that matter check out Curiousity Killed the Cat by Blaize Clement who unfortunately passed away recently.

Just started reading "Left Neglected" by Lisa Genova. Busy everyday mother trying to get everything done - has an accident and has to learn to still be super woman with a left brain injury .... Only just strated it but so far very interesting. Lisa Genova also wrote Still Alice - about a 51 yr old woman that is dealing with early onset alzheimers disease. Excellent Author - Very Easy to Read. I actually read Still Alice in 4-hours

I downloaded the first few books in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series. Probably start them tonight or tomorrow night.

Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear. (My grandmother gave me a stack of books, and my mother insisted I should read these. I am actually quite enjoying the first one. )

Ms. Winspear won a major mystery writing award either with that book or one in that series. I read one of hers and really liked it -

Has anyone tried the Tiger's Curse? Someone told me that that book and it's sequel put the first Twilight to shame?!?!? (Those are strong words to me!) Finished the first one yesterday. It took me until almost 2/3 the way through to really start to enjoy it (which is when the action really started picking up). It has similar teenage love thematics that Twilight does (he's confident, she's not; he's out of her league, she's got an endless supply of self-doubt; etc.). The supernatural/spiritual side of the story is a little far-fetched for me, but it draws a lot from Indian culture and legend, which is interesting to learn about. So far I would say it's a decent read, but holds no candle to Twilight. I am going to dive right into the second book, which historically is my favorite when I am reading a series, so we'll see how this one goes.

Another sweet, well-written story: Summer of Light by W. Dale Cramer. Reminds me that you never know where and when you'll recognize the gifts you have.

I know a lot of you are Lee Child/Jack Reacher fans. (I haven't read any of these books) I heard an interview this morning on the radio with Lee Child. Tom Cruise has been cast in the lead role of the movie they are filming - it's the 9th book in the series. (sorry if this is old news)

No freaking way can Tom Cruise be Jack Reacher. Reacher is so big and muscled that he's literally bulletproof (sort of) in one of the books. Tom Cruise would blow over in a stiff breeze.

Tom Cruise! He is a pipsqueek! Jack Reacher's character is described as a large imposing ex-marine figure. (I think one of the books lists him as 6'5".) I've read all the books and they are very entertaining. 6'5", 210 - 250 pounds (and ex-Army! don't call him a Marine, you don't want to aggravate Mr. Reacher.... ha ha ) Mark Valley could play him, although he's more handsome than Lee Childs describes Reacher.
