Does anyone have a BSA/SAR Committe in place at their financial institution? If so, can you share what staff members are part of that committee? I was thinking a person from BSA, Audit and Compliance.

Thanks

SVP Chief Risk Officer, SVP Chief Administration officer, SVP Director of HR, SVP Chief Lending Officer (though I kicked him out eventually because he kept talking about what happened in SAR committee with unauthorized individuals), & myself.

Too bad about your loan officer...what you need most is diversity in knowledge; i.e. raise your odds for someone figuring out what is actually happening. As audit should review the process, my opinion is they should not be represented.

President, CFO, BSA Officer are permanent members. SVP Ops, Sr Lender, Sr Credit Officer, VP of Retail, and HR are invited when their area is affected (at least one of them is always present).

BSA Officer, SVP Ops, VP Compliance, Sr Lenders,HR and managers are also asked if need be. We only meet as needed - was wondering how often (ex: weekly, monthly) does everyone meet?

as needed here and generally only if I am having a hard time making a decision. If I feel like it's a slam dunk to file, I just do it, no meeting.

We had a SAR committee at my old institution ($200M) - BSA Officer, Compliance Officer and VP Ops - we only met as needed, but many times it was a no-brainer and I went ahead and filed with no meeting. New institution ($1B) does not have a committee.

We have less than 25 SARS per year. The BSA staff, BSA officer and the SVP are all considered "committee" as the file makes its way through the discovery and recomendation process.

For the SARs that need discussion by the committee, the most important thing is to meet in time to meet the filing deadline.
