We are imaging our documentation for loans, deposits and proof(checks, holds etc). Basically all bank documentation. However, I have been searching to see how long we need to keep the original documents and can not find a clear answer. I have searched UETA, E-Sign, UCC codes etc. Does anyone know where I might find this? Thank you in advance.

Our philosophy has been that we only keep the original for as long as it takes us to check the image to make sure it is there and indexed to the correct account. The exception is our branch teller work. We keep it for 4 months after they have scanned it (teller capture), then shred it. This helps us if we need to re-scan anything.

Goodnews, can you direct us to written guidance supporting your philosophy?

I agree with beachbum. I have tried to convince people that reviewing to be sure you have a good image is the key. I send a request to the PA Bankers Assoc. hoping to get some kind of answer. Thank you for your input. I sure wish they would put on some guidence on these things (real life concerns)!
