Community bankers generally wear multiple hats, but in the growing area of e-banking, who wears the hats that administer e-banking in your FI? Specifically, where do debit cards and online banking (and products extending off online banking) get handled in your FI? Is it your IT department, deposit operations, or does e-banking have its' own department?

For comparison's sake, our FI is between $1 and $2 billion.

IT handles any connection issues. Deposit Operations has the rest, no different than any other deposit operation function.

We have one person who is our E-Banking person. She handles website, cash management customers, remote capture accounts, online banking, soon to be mobile banking, and marketing. She works closely with our core processor, IT department, compliance and deposit ops.

Interesting. Who backs her up (vacations, sick days)? The IT department?

One of the assistant branch managers is her back up. Additionally, the deposit operations staff could assist with any transactional issues that come up. And for remote capture, several of us are authorized to approve over the limit transactions if needed.
