We just recently install laminate "wood" floors and are now looking for the best way to clean them.

When referring to the instructions with the box, it states, "Clean with damp mop and approved cleaning solution" but no where does it say what is the "approved cleaning solution".

Checked their website and again no help there.

I've heard from many other people don't use water, some said, the "wet swiffers", but I also hear those are not good for pets.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Usually you would use a dry wipe (like a Swiffer duster), but if you need a cleaner go with a laminate floor cleaner like Armstrong. I think they have a website.

I use the generic wet swiffer pads- Seem to work well, dog doesn't have a problem.

We don't use wet anything on our pergo. A dry swiffer or a vacuum is good enough.

Swifter Wet Jet. Got dog snot and slobber that can't be removed with a dry Swifter.

The Shark Steam mop worked fine when I used to have laminate flooring. It has a dusting pad that I didn't think did any good, but the regular pads did a fine job.

...and it smells really good. You can control the amount you spray, so it's not like taking a mop and bucket to it.

Be careful with wet cleaners on laminate floors... they don't absorb like real wood, so you run the risk of warping.

That's my biggest fear.

Talked with a lot of people who have the floor we got and they said they had no problems with it, "just keep it dry, don't let water sit on it for a long time."

Wet stuff on laminate is fine so long as it doesnt stay or puddle. I've had two places with laminate flooring and used a steam mop on both just fine. As for a steam mop, look for the recent thread on those wink

I use a dust mop on ours which works great for getting dust & dog hair from under the beds. To wash I use the steam mop and have never had a problem.

We use the oreck steam and glide steam mop, and it does the job quickly, cleanly and without puddling on the floor.

I used the steam mop too but I always have streaks. I have the Shark, using water only. I also have extra cleaning pads for it, so I change those often and I still get streaks on my laminate and tile floors. Anyone else have that same problem or know how to not get streaks.
