Next weekend, 2/25, my family is going to be participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes to support our 7 year old son. He was diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic on 8/23/11. If you are in the Mall of America area and would like to join our team, please let me know. If you can, please consider donating to our team to help fund research for a cure. Team name is "Keaton's Glucose Patrol". Thank you to those friends who have already helped out! <3 Keaton's Glucose Patrol

Tomorrow we go to have his insulin pump programmed, yet another step on this journey.

On our son's home fundraising page is the youtube video we created for this years walk.

Kiwi - Good luck with your walk! We participate in the Atlanta, GA walk. My eight year old daughter was diagnosed almost six years ago. We went on the insulin pump almost two years ago. It was a wonderful change for our family, but we did feel like we had to "re-learn" diabetes - the math is a little different and the protocol for dealing with highs is a little different. I wish you the best with the change. PM me if you ever want to talk, discuss, vent or cry!

Done. There is nothing better than helping a little one exceed a goal. Good luck to Keaton.

I hope you all have a great time tomorrow! My hubby is a Type 1 diabetic and finally got a pump last year and he has loved it. It is so much better than all of those shots!

We are participating in the walk this year and most likely will for the duration, but thought I would share our video for this year. If you could say a prayer for Keaton we would appreciate it. He was diagnosed with Celiac last month so now we are again learning a new way of life, but he is a happy boy and is usually healthy (although today I think his pump had issues in the night as he woke up high with ketones...ugh).

Countess, is Keaton collecting donations this year? if so, can you share a link?

Praying that he feels better!

We are walking again this year on 2/22 if anyone wants to join us at the Mall of America. This year's video is on his page if you care to watch.
