We have found several commercial/Ag loans where we want to discontinue reporting to credit bureau. (reported in error in the first place.) Some of the loans are made to an actual business entity, some are made to individuals for business purpose.

Per Operations Officer Credit Bureau warns that we should just stop reporting but not have the history deleted.

Any thoughts or opinions????

In early 2000 we stopped reporting business purpose loans to the credit bureau. The issue we were having if we just stopped reporting instead of deleting them when we reported one by mistake is that the loan stays on their cb report with a stale last reported date and balance. You'll end up having to update or delete the information when asked by a new creditor that pulls the report and sees the stale info. Or the borrower may dispute the reporting you made by mistake and you'll end up deleting it anyway.
Our core system has a code that says to delete the loan from the credit file when the month end data is updated so when we find a mistake it's pretty easy to correct. If the borrower wants it done ASAP we use EOscar to delete the record.
