Thanks Loralie - For the 'translation'. Its quite amusing to see Americans live up to their reputations (not being able to relate to the rest of the world).

Why would we need to when you are an American the rest of the world would need to relate to you. smile

I also noticed the lack of a comma after the "i.e." And the paragraph structure is very strange, much like if one were reading e.e. cumming.

They have a little quiz you can take online to determine if you are a likely candidate. It has been a few months since I took it, but I believe the age cut off was 45. You can always own a home there at spend, I think, 3 months out of the year there on your passport alone.

Now Uraguay lets you stay 9 months out of each year on your passport alone. I believe you can actually become a resident during that period of time.

Several countries in Central and South America have "retirement" packages. They offer incentives to folks wanting to move there to retire - no import duties on your belongings and the like....

We don't relate to the rest of the world, we save it.

It is difficult being the world's only superpower, it's like king of the hill, everyone is jealous and wants to boot you.

(notice I dropped the "off" at the end of the last sentence) smile

Happy, I appreciate you coming to my defense, however I DID understand, it seemed as if others didn't, so I was trying to help.

Funnily enough, We had customers here who were from New Zealand, they just recently moved back when their kids graduated High School here and both decided to go to College in NZ. The mom had a very thick accent. I was the only one in our branch who could understand her.

Plus, my mom's ex-husband was born and raised in Wales, and Australia and NZ use alot of the same vernacular as the UK.

I ADORE all of mani's husky avvies- I can't decide which is better, this one or the one with the glasses. My doxy has started coming into the room with suckers and candy in his mouth, and we cannot figure out where he is finding it! I thought maybe he was getting into the girl's Halloween Candy, but it's all put away. So Confused.

And for the grammer police- I know I can't spell, so I apologize. grin

Even coffee is different in Australia. If you want a regular coffee with cream, you need to order a flat white.

I am sure that is a superior name since after all, it is not the American way of saying it.

Also appetizers are entrees and entrees are mains. Again superior to the American way.

I must say having spent some time down under, this poster is not at all indicative of the people, even the Kiwis we met. Most are very nice and very curious about the US and since most travel much of the world they understand the different idioms used in different countries and don't equate the with superiority/inferiorty.

The funny thing about Australia is that it was formed as a penal colony in the late 1700s in New South Wales. You were sent there with a life sentence...strangely, many today lay claim to being descendants of settlers, but no one claims to be the descendant of those sent there as prisoners...

I have an aunt who emigrated there more than 10 years ago and loves it.

A friend of ours is from NZ and came to the US in college on swimming scholarship, and fell in love with the US and opted to stay.

So Cal
New Zealand is fine for some, but with Used Zealand you avoid losing 25% of its value as soon as you drive it off the lot.
