I like the mani-pedi idea as well. Along the same lines, an iTunes gift card. If you'd rather give a (what my mom would call) 'real' gift, perhaps buy some pajama sets from Aerie, GAP Body, or even Victoria's Secret. But I do mean FULL pajama sets, as in pants/shorts and tee shirts. lingerie? So her son can enjoy it? I am shocked Well not really Hence the part I highlighted for you.

If the girl lives in NJ, and she is anything like those on the Jersey Shore (and since it is reality TV we must assume everyone in NJ is like this), possibly a box of condoms and an EPT should be the gift...
Not everyone from Jersey!!!!! Only those from Central and North Jersey! South Jersey is a whole different world! A better world!

Assuming she's getting a car- I've made gift baskets with all sorts of car accessories in it- Keychains, fuzzy dice, air fresheners, cd visors, etc... the keychain engraved with her nickname would be neat too.
I do like the picture thing, it's unique. I guess I'm just a cheapskate, and I wouldn't spend that much on my child's SO, let alone just a friend. lol

Assuming she's getting a car This is NJ, get her a GPS showing where Deeks Mazda is so she can avoid being hit by it.

Bath and Body Works stuff is always good, but usually everyone thinks of that, and who knows what sort of allergies or things might set her off so it may be dangerous.
Perhaps get her parents some locks to go on her bedroom windows??

The name picture thing is unique and pretty cool, Deek. I liek that since it's unexpected and it will be in style for her no matter the age. The mani-pedi, gift card, clothes are all obvious choices. the photo thing isn't.

I don't know if she is getting a car but liked the idea of a fun keychain and car stuff.

Girls love to shop, gift certificates, maybe H&M depending on locations. VISA is always good. Stay away from anything too personal for the girlfriend of the best friend, would not want to offend either one of them.

In NJ, you ccannot drive until 17... From my encounters with drivers from NJ they have not yet determined the age at which they CAN drive.

my friends daughter just turned Sweet 16 & we got her a gift card to American Eagle (I did $100) but for a classmate I think $25 - $50 would be acceptable

Gift cards for manis/pedis are always appreciated, especially if you know the salon they normally use.
