I liked Jessica's first song, but when she got to her second song, I realized that she has no ability to be an actual artist, she's a singer, period. By her third song, I realized she has no idea who she is, and if she somehow wins, she will not be memorable, because she has no creative side. I was happy with Phil's first song, but it wasn't great. By his second song I remembered that the reason I like him is because he takes a song and he makes it completely his own. He knows exactly who he is, and will take creative control over what he does in the studio. His final song was awesome. My only question is.... does he have a crush on the female sax player or something? It seems like she's around on every song he does Hope Phillip Phillips wins!

Yay for Adam. Local boy here in San Diego.
I kinda feel liek Jessica shoudl win onyl because she is moldable at this point. she doesnt' really have a niche quite yet, the way Philip does. He has a style and a direction already and will do better on his own I'll bet. That said, I think I liek his style more. But Jessica, wow, she can sing!!!

YEAH!!!! Hoped Phillips would win, didn't think it would happen. They seemed to really be pushing the idea that a 16 year old would win; it was almost like her name became "16 year old Jessica Sanchez". She is very good and in a couple of years she will be better prepared for all the other craziness of this career.
Happy to see that Phillip was able to stay true to himself all the way through.

Yeah, looks like her and Degarmo went in opposite directions. Degarmo is looking pretty good physically these days. I'm confused with Degarmo though. She came out in Season 3 and lost to Fantasia which was what? 8 years ago? She's barely 24 years old now so was she a 16 year old when she competed back then or what? I didn't realize the age limit was that low back then and I don't recall her being that young.

I mean - she kinda scared me! That Jennifer Holiday lady that sang with Jessica kinda scared me. I was worried for Jessica there for a bit. Holliday looked possessed. Pretty good performance though.

Wow, John Fogerty made me feel OLD! Yeah, my sister 38 years old was like, "who's that guy?" She likes all that bubblegum music. No clue who Fogerty or CCR is.

What no comment about the show? Uh, yeah, here's my comment about the show: Jessica - Didn't like Jessica's first song chosen for her by Simon Fuller I believe. Another Whitney song. She sang it very well, but I think she's sung one too many Whitney songs this year. She slayed her second song vocally, but again didn't care for this song choice considering that it was her choice. She should've gone with Stuttering. That's a song that is more in her wheelhouse and it's the kind of "urban" record she would make. Her first single song (her last song) was horrible. She sung it well, but it wasn't a very good song.
Phillip Phillips - I liked the first song choice, but wasn't anything special about the performance. Isn't a difficult song to sing. Didn't care for the second song choice. Billy Joel. His two best moments this season were Volcano and We Got Tonight. He should have gone with one of those two even if they were done in recent weeks. His final song was pretty freaking good. Really enjoyed this Home song. Randy was correct in it's Mumford and Sons feel.
Final analysis - Jessica is technically a much MUCH better vocalist than Phillips, but Phillips is a musician and has more control of the production of the songs he chooses. I think this was highlighted in her first two songs compared to Phillips. I thought Jessica won the first two rounds. That said, her final round was a dud while Phillips had a moment with his final song. One of the best performances of the season and clearly the best performance of the evening. Phillips peaked at the right time with his third straight week with a memorable performance.
I think Phillips wins. Do you want me to comment about the result? Ok. Just like I called it .
