Anyone seen the trailer for the new Dark Shadows movie with Johnny Depp, directed by Tim Burton?

Anyone else feel a pang of disappointment? Maybe Tim Burton felt he needed to do a complete 180 from Twilight, True Blood and Vampire Diaries, but a slapstick comedy? Really?

oh, no! Say it isn't so!!! I loved Barnabus and was hoping Johnny would do the role justice. slapstick? Seriously???!!!

It had such a promising cast!! DANG IT!! I'll probably just Netflix it when the time comes.

I usually adore Tim Burton movies - especially when Johnny Depp is involved (Sleepy Hollow, anyone? ) - but this looks like it might be worse than Sweeney Todd.

Sweeney Todd... A very good opera when performed on the stage (ok yes, I like some opera's...shush).
As a movie, should have been called "Sweeney Toad".

One of my favorite Depp movies is 'The Secret Window' - and 'Chocolat'.

Dip, the original was Wayyyyyyyy before your time. It is classic and totally campy.

Not only that, but no Quentin, no Magda, and no Reverend Trask!

That's because you have nothing to compare it to. My granddaughter loves a lot of the remakes of songs that make me cringe because I KNOW how they were written to be performed. It really po's her when I know all the lyrics and start singing too!

As for Sweeny Todd, I remember once seeing a replay of the original with Angela Landsbury on PBS. It was an fabulous musical. Even tho I'm a musical junkie, I found the Burton/Depp version a total trainwreck.

Speaking of Depp, the new 21 Jump Street movie does to this show what the Burton movie will do to Dark Shadows. To all of which I say, GO WRITE A NEW SCREENPLAY AND LEAVE THE ORIGINALS ALONE!!!

Rev. Trask was Deliciously Evil! My husband and I met the actor who portrayed Trask when we went to (gulp!) a Dark Shadows Convention. Also got Angelique's autograph.

Angelique is in the movie - afterall, she is the one who turned Barnabus into a vampire.

I had no clue it was a remake, but was still a little disillusioned when I saw the trailer. It seemed like maybe worth it at first glance...but then I just got more and more sad as the trailer went on.

Speaking of Trask, in a total Nerd-crossover, am I the only who flashed back on Barnabus screaming the name "Trask!!!!" in anger when viewing Star Trek II - Wrath of Khan when Kirk screams "Khan!!!!"?
