Just now saw there will be no grand jury in the Trayvon Martin case! The special prosecutor must now either drop the case or file charges. Bet I can guess what will happen!

well, if I was going to be charged with murder/manslaughter/negligent homicide, Florida is the jurisdiction i'd want to be tried in. They don't have a very good conviction rate...at least not in high profile cases

Given how the media's manipulated all the information released, I'm not sure I believe this or not.

I am afraid that both Martin and Zimmerman have both been done a terrible injustice at price of ratings.
I think Zimmerman screwed up royal by trying to play cop.
And because of the manipulations and misinformation, we may never really get a chance to find out what young Mr Martin may or may not have done.
Zimmerman almost certainly over stepped his authority. But he should have been tried in court, not the media.

Even if he gets off criminally, he'll still get sued in civil court. He's in a world of hurt regardless.

Not necessarily. In Florida if he is acquitted of criminal charges due to the "Stand your ground" law, he is then immune from Civil Action.

How is that effected if he isn't acquitted because he is not charged?

I imagine the same thing would apply because if he is not charged, it will be because he was within his rights granted to him by the Stand Your Ground law.

I think the entire situation is a shame no matter which way it plays out. I agree that as a citizen it is our thirst for information that causes the immediate media coverage but that being said the "trial by media" does throw everything so far out of perspective. And in total agreement with Happy about the high profile cases in Florida ...... it seems if you can make it through the trial and a little media backlash afterwards you are then soon forgotten about and allowed to go on as if nothing ever happened

are you talking about someone in specific I recall something in the past like that but I can not remember the name.

I heard reports last night that his legal team is no longer representing him since he has been out of contact with them for several days...very bizarre.

And that his counsel has never met him in person.

That is weird, but the media sensationalism has caused a lot of racial tension, so in some ways, I don't blame him for disappearing. There are a lot of people out to get him now. I would have stayed in contact with my attorneys though.

I don't blame him either given there is a bounty on his head.

One would think that there would be some law that is being broken by placing a bounty or giving the (incorrect) address out with the intent to cause injury to him. Sorry if this is in any way shape or form being compared to another bounty because it is not the intent.

One would also think if there was enough evidence there would have been had a grand jury.

This whole situation is a tragedy.

It's possible he's going through some sort of post traumatic stress. I mean....unless the guy is completely nuts, shooting and killing someone has to take its toll.

you don't need a grand jury if there is a preponderance of evidence...

You could also bypass a grand jury if you thought there was not a preponderance of evidence...
