I'm curious, how many places have grocery stores with gas discounts? One place here has a card that allows you to accumulate points based on certain purchases.

We've got the exact same set-up here. The store used to offer a flat discount on a daily basis and you just took your receipt to the gas station to get the discount. Now they have discounts you accumulate on a card based on purchasing specific items that are designated on a weekly basis in their ads. Have to be careful and weigh the benefits and see if getting one brand and the discount is a better deal than a cheaper/smaller version. Sometimes it works, not always. We've had times we were filling up and had >$1/gallon in discounts to use though, don't mind that!

If they did include alcohol, they would be paying DeeQ for gas. whistle

saw on the news today michigan, illinois, wisonsin, and indiana have the highest gas prices in the nation - on average $.50 higher than everywhere else...supposedly because of a refinery fire in detroit...they are sitting around $4.35 per gallon...

and i'm complaining because we're at $3.22-$3.27...

My understanding is supply is not the issue, it is the ability to refine what we have.

When was the last refinery build?

Detroit fire was the final straw in pushing our prices up. A couple of refinery closures coupled with slower production while having to switch from winter blends to summer have made gas just scarce enough to make Midwesterners pay the price. Never thought I'd be grateful for $3.95 till I had to pay $4.15/gal to get home from Chicago on Saturday.
