Quick question somewhat related to funds availability...if a customer brings in a LARGE amount of coin to be sorted and counted and would then like us to deposit it, our tellers sometimes tell the customer that they may not get to sorting and counting it till the next day (which may even be over a weekend). I'm torn between our reg CC policy that provides same day availability of deposits and the bank's right to refuse an item for deposit...this isn't about an item though...it's CASH! Do we have the right to postpone this transation til we "have time?"
Thanks!

Uh-oh. Sounds like we may be in trouble. Our Reg CC disclosure is same-day availability and we do not have any account agreement or service rules in writing that say anything about coin deposits. Do other banks include this with account opening procedures (addendum to Reg CC) or a lobby disclosure?

You better be reviewing your controls over this coin when not counted until the next day.
