I like the soup and salad at Olive Garden. Zuppa Toscano is my fave! We don't really have many big "chain" restaurants in my town, except for fast food, so we only go to the chains when we are out-of-town.

Hubby loves Outback for steaks. The kids like to go Golden Corral, Chili's or Applebee's. Sometimes they are good, sometimes not so good. Don't care for Cracker Barrel, Texas Roadhouse or Red Lobster.

We were in Washington last week and tried Red Robin for the first time ever. My hubby loved it, it wsa just ok for me.

Locally, though, we have the best Mexican food you will ever want to eat - no chains. Most famous line in New Mexico: "Red or Green"?

Chick-fil-a though...I'll make room in my diet for that deliciousness any time!

I went to a chick-fil-a once...it was expensive and absolutely the most DISGUSTING food I had ever ever ever eaten. sick

It's a good thing we don't have In-n-Out here because that's about the only fast food that I will willingly eat.

Hubby loves Chick-fil-a. I think I've only eaten at one maybe once.

See, everyone says that but it was literally gross when we went there.

Something must have been going wrong in the kitchen microwave that day.

I couldn't bear to ever go back again to give it a second chance.

I rarely eat at chain steak places, we have too many great steakhouses and private butchers here to eat the shoe leather most of them have. And if I'm going to waste the calories on steak, its going to be the best one I can get. We have a rediculously good sausage emporium called Mutt's Amazing Hot Dogs that is a great place to eat like carp on the weekends. I do somethimes eat the steamed rice and black pepper chicken at Panda express.
And yes, the Chik-fil-a here is almost worth going to just because the employees are so nice!

Like any other chain though, you can't count on them being identical one to the other. They only one in town currently is at the old carpy mall on the other side of town that's mostly empty these days. They're building a new one on this side of town, in a spot that has been at least 4 different chain places in the last 10 years (Bonefish Grill, Ruby Tuesday's, Mondos, and Chi Chi's), but I'd bet this will be the one that actually survives more than two years.

I stick to the grilled chicken and fruit these days, but the breaded stuff is just great!

I'm with Boaty - Chik-fil-a is horrid. sick The only fast food place we go to regularly is Rubio's - love the salmon burrito. Yum! There's a new Chronic Taco nearby but we haven't tried it yet.

Haven't been to Olive Garden or Red Lobster in many years. We have so many independent places around here that serve better food, and usually cheaper, there's no reason to go to the chains.

And the absolute bestest steak is up the coast in Nipomo at Jocko's. It's cooked outside over a real oak fire, and it is to die for. They serve a complete dinner, with salad, steak, 2 or 3 sides, bread, steak, and dessert, for about $25. It's one of those places that you wouldn't stop at if you were just driving by, but it is awesome.
