Police: Parents Left 19 Kids Home Alone With No Food Police authorities in Bowling Green, Ky., say 19 children were left inside a filthy home unsupervised for a week with no food or air-conditioning. Deputies said the children ranged in age from 8 months to 14 years old and were taken to a nearby medical center Monday before they were released into protective custody, according to ABC News station WBKO. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/po...topstories.html

And sadly, this is where I live. Not in that house, but in Bowling Green.

I wonder what the punishment is for a crime like this? IMO, child endangerment in general, but for the love of God, esp. your own children, ought to rank right up there with any felony you want to name.

I think everyone should be "temporarily" sterilized at birth and have to apply to have it reversed after age 25.

I think everyone should be "temporarily" sterilized at birth and have to apply to have it reversed after age 25. Pending meeting the qualifications of course. IQ, financial literacy tests, common sense tests, etc. What a beautiful world it would be!

Back to the story:
A neighbor reported the situation to the police and they did nothing for a week. Somehow the number of children went from 10 to 19! Sounds like there is an even bigger problem. Do they even know who these children belong to? Does the police dept not have a policy of protecting children? Granted, maybe one of the older children said they were watching the younger ones and the parents would be back soon, but why not follow up??

They do not know who all of the children belong to; although some of them belong to the woman who was arrested. The paper stated there were 6 cousins that came here for the summer. There were also several dogs and cats that were taken to the animal shelter. No air conditioning and the temperature has hit 100 about 5 of the last 6 days.
