Where the heart is
Is anyone else sick of that extra $20 per night "resort fee" that some hotels charge? This is in addition to their advertised per night rate, or even the rate that is quoted when you book a reservation.

I have to wonder why hotels can do this. If I book a room and the reservation says the rate is $120 per night, why is it I have to pay $140 per night when I show up? And if I had KNOWN I would be paying $140 per night, perhaps I would have booked at the hotel with the $125 per night rate that doesn't charge a resort fee.

Ugh!

Sounds like a UDAAP issue. Maybe a little regulatory oversight would be in order here. If you were related to a senator or congressman, you could get this fixed.

I guess it depends on what it includes at the specific hotel until I can determine if it bugs me! laugh

Like when internet access is not bundled in the resort fee... mad

That's one of the reasons I like using places like Hotels.com. They've always listed everything up front & I've never had to pay additional fees as long as I don't order room service or charge anything to my room. I haven't had any surprise charges so far when I have used third party travel sites.

The hotel we stayed at for the ABA RCC had a $10.00 a night fee that covered wireless internet and 2 bottles of water a day....no choice on whether you wanted either...

i've never seen this...and i've been everywhere, man, i've been everywhere

maybe my elite status at Marriot and Hilton prevents these charges for me...

What makes a hotel a resort?

umm, Pops, when they mention swingers, it is talking about a lifestyle, not because you have flabby body parts that move to and fro when you walk...
