The bank across town needed cash, and the branch manager came in with a cashier's check >$10,000. When I requested the CTR from the teller who handled the transaction, she said that she thought she didn't need to complete the CTR as it was between banks. Anyone ever hear of this? Thanks.

A financial institution would certainly qualify for a Phase I Exemption.

Absolutely, Brian. Since there's not even a DOEP requirement (all you have to do is verify it's still a bank each year), there's no reason to even consider filing a CTR on another bank. Add it to your exemption "list" and move on.

You need to place all financial institutions in your area on your exempt list.
