I shall reveal my secret recipe for cornbread....incredibly unhealthy cornbread!
You will need -
1 box of Jiffy Cornbread mix
1 egg
1/3 cup of milk
2 tblsp of Honey
1/4 of a white onion diced
2 strips of bacon diced
1 small jalepeno diced
1 small green chili diced
1/3 cup of drained corn
shredded cheddar cheese (about a hand full)
first fry the bacon in a cast 10" iron skillet until the bits are crispy.
Remove the bits and leave the grease in the pan. If needed, add enough crisco to cover the bottom. Stick the skillet in a 420 degree oven.
Now, go combine all the other ingredients until they are a lumpy bunch of yellow goo. Allow goo to sit for 2 or three minutes.
Take searing hot skillet full of bacon grease out of the oven and poor goo into the bacon grease. Stick back into the oven until golden brown on top with a very dark crust around th sides.
Serve with real butter and more honey.
Prepare to run at least 3 miles per piece of cornbread.
Also great with beans!
