I could swear that someone else had asked this, but I couldnt find it...so hear goes again...
We were asked to dedicate a song for my cousins wedding and except for the very newest stuff (which I figure everyone will be sending) I wanted something different...anyone have any ideas?

The Sovereign State Of Oklahom...
We played Pachelbel's Cannon in D Major. Its not all that original at this point I suppose, but it is still one of the most beautiful pieces that I know of and it literally sounds like love to me.

Uh, actually, if you know the lyrics, Cousin Dupree was very serious. And not in a PG way. eek

As an alternative to Pachebel, I'd suggest JS Bach's Air on a G String. I know the name sounds like someone brought a fan to a beach in Rio, but it's very pretty. Tons of versions on youtube, if you'd like to hear it.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings is breathtaking.

My BF had Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary in D played at her wedding. The trumpet was located in the balcony and played as she came into the room instead of the normal Mendelson's wedding march.

The original Ode to Joy by Beethoven is excellent as well.

Is this for the reception or for a CD or...?

Our 'wedding song' (not the processional or the recessional) was 'As Time Goes By' from Casablanca. My brother's was "Summertime" from Porgy & Bess.

The Best of Times- Styx

I've always loved this as a wedding song- especially a 1st dance song.

I would use it myself, but I've already agreed to Metallica's Symphony version of Nothing Else Matters.
