In her Name: First Contact - It's non smut Sci fi- which i normally don't read, but it's actually a really interesting book. Very well written. It's actually 6 books, I'm on book 4..

Here's a link to where you can get the 1st book free, or you can find omnibus editions for cheap on Amazon.

Recommended Reading Order for the IN HER NAME series:

Book 1 – IN HER NAME: EMPIRE

Book 2 – IN HER NAME: CONFEDERATION

Book 3 – IN HER NAME: FINAL BATTLE

…or IN HER NAME (Omnibus edition), which contains the complete text of the three books, above…

Book 4 – IN HER NAME: FIRST CONTACT

Book 5 – IN HER NAME: LEGEND OF THE SWORD

Book 6 – IN HER NAME: DEAD SOUL

I'm 63% through Divergent and know I'm gonna go directly to Insurgent when I'm done. What I'm not looking forward to is waiting for the third book to be released.

I've just recently gotten into the Dresden files. I've also been reading Daniel Silva. Great reads!

Harry rocks. (If Cold Days doesn't bring him back to a happier place I am not going to be happy.)

I have no idea where Butcher is heading with Harry, but I'm hopeful!

We can go get Butcher (Misery style) if he doesn't do right by Harry.

Read "The Nation" by Terry Pratchett over the weekend. Kind of hard to get into at first but ended up being really good.

I'm almost done with Delusion in Death by JD Robb. Normally a big fan of the Death series books but this one - not so much. Murderer was way too easy to figure out and then the book just drags on and on. Maybe the last 8% of the book will redeem it.

Re-read the Anne McCaffrey "Pern" series. Now on the 2nd book in the Red Wolf Conspiracy.

Has anyone read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn?

Excellent timing! Just got an e-mail from B&N that the 2nd book in the new Follet Trilogy is out now! Will have to download this weekend if available for nook.

Purchased "Red MIst" the newest Scarpetta adventure - getting kind of burned out on these, tho, so this will be the clincher - do I want more decider.

Just read the newest Jack Reacher novel, "Deep Down." No neurons were stimulated, but I've read them all and they are a pure distraction; e.g. great "man books" to read at the beach. (No way Tom Cruise can play Jack Reacher in the movie, no way.)

Before that, it was "Grace and Power". It's an analysis of the Kennedy presidency more or less as you would expect it to be described in a very well written edition of People magazine; i.e. it focuses on Jack and Jackie in the context of world events, not the other way around. Excellent read with enough salacious content to be beach suitable.

At the other end of the spectrum, I just started "The Presidents' Club" and, at 13%, I can say it is one of the most fascinating things I have ever read. America's chief executive is an intriguing subject and this is an entirely new perspective.

Is it worth the new release price? After the last couple of duds, I'm hesitant to cough up the $.

And I agree completely - NO WAY is Tom Cruise Reacher material!

I thought so... The entire series is pretty simple and formulaic, but maybe that's why Lee Child is President Bush's (George) favorite author! wink

Seriously, they offer enough detail in certain to hold my interest; e.g. "Can you talk for 30 seconds without using a word that includes the letter a?"

Yes, I've read them all and enjoy them immensely, but the last couple seemed a bit below par compared to the rest.
