Customer deposits a check to his account (not on us) and the cash back from the deposit requires a CTR. Do you choose the box for negotiable instrument cashed or deposit/withdrawal?

If the total of the check was run as deposit, then deposit/withdrawal box. If it was a split transaction, and they received the majority back in cash, then I think negotiable instrument cashed.

Negotiable instrument cashed per FinCEN directive to me several years ago. They always want to know when a negotiable instrument is involved.

The money was never in the acccount; "witdrawal" is not an option.
