So it is our branches turn to put on the Christmas Party this year and we are trying to figure out what to do for the entertainment. Last year our main office had a hypnotist. We are at a loss this year. Any ideas, or would anyone like to share any past entertainment hits from their parties in the past?

One company I worked for hired a cartoon artist. I still have the sketch from that night! Very cool keepsake.

Last year my bank did a Minute-To-Win-It contest. Everyone seemed to enjoy that. Afterwards a one man band played. I would skip the one man band.

Have an open bar for a few hours and you can be pretty sure that someone will put on an entertaining performance of some sort before the night is over.

At a former bank, my branch hired a group called "Tons of Fun" for the entertainment at the Christmas party one year. It was a group of VERY heavy women, who did comedy and a little bit of singing and dancing. Most attendees seemed to enjoy it, although some of the "stuffier" branches (main office, anyone?), not so much.

Anyway, depending on your group's appreciation for humor, something like that can be fun.

I like the cartoon artist or comedian idea!

We've done Minute To Win It before and it was a big hit.

Drinking for this group is a priority, open bar or not. smile

OK
At a former bank we had a talent show where each department would come up with a skit. Another time my branch did a spoof off the poen "Night Before Christmas" and started out "On the Night Before Christmas and all through the bank, not a creature was stirring......the employees were all snuggled....the sound on the roof was the President sliding down the vault door and the reindeer were names of officers. It was pretty cute. We had them all stand when their name was called.

Comedy Sports?

We did a holiday party at Dave & Busters once. Everyone pretty much did their own thing after the meal, but it was fun regardless.

Also did a Casino night.

A CU, Where Regs Don't Apply
We do games every year, mostly just as a way to give out prizes and loosen everyone up.

We've done variations of the following since I started here:
Hollywood Squares
Smarter than a 5th Grader (but, Smarter than the management team)
Cash Cab
Newlywed's Game (but with supervisor/employee)

And some random trivia type things. We usually try to have some work related stuff and some unrelated. Most of this can be done relatively low budget and you can find ideas all over the web.

You can do a scavenger-type hunt with musical chairs. You can have a representative from each branch compete and the last one standing gets a prize.

It has always been a hit at my husband's Christmas parties.

Except if they all get drunk, there could be some liability! grin

Ohmyword. Don't even mention Christmas to me this year. I think everyone will get a $10 Taco Bell gift card and I will call it done.

True. Games were usually done after the meal and before the drinks really started to flow.

Our ChristmasHoliday party is painful. We get two free drinks, and then sit through some dull speeches, including one I have to give summarizing what community service work we did, sleep and then we have a DJ who plays your favorite 60s pop and some polkas. And then they wonder why fewer people come every year.

We did something neat at a church function that might translate. Prior to the event, we were given a list of somewhat personal questions like "What is your favorite food?" "What do you love most in life?" "How do you feel about the vegetarian diet?" and a bunch of oddball questions.

Then after we turned them in, the leadership picked some of the most interesting, and read the answers from stage. We had to guess who gave certain answers (IT WAS HARD!), and whoever got the most right won a gift card for a dinner out!

Instead of the usual door prize drawing where they pull your name out of a jar and you come get your prize, I think we're going to do the Punch a Bunch game from Price is Right. We're also doing an "awards show" skit with homemade awards and categories with a video montage of bloopers from the staff meetings and training video's we've recorded throughout the year. I like the "Are You Smarter Than the Management Team" and Hollywood Squares games idea!

At my wife's FORMER credit union, they made the new employees hired in the past year get up and sing along to the barking dogs version of Jingle Bells. I don't know that getting my wife pi**** off is very entertaining - at least it's not for me. smile

We are not having a "holiday" party this year.

We've done casino night, had an employee talent show, an Elvis impersonator (should have shopped around a bit more for that one), and a magician.

You could always have a rousing game of COMPLIANCE BINGO to get everyone in the Christmas mood!
