Looking at a 2003 Jeep Liberty for my daughter 1st car. Anyone have or know anyone who has this vehicle? Looking to see how reliable it is, gas mileage experiance, etc?
I have looked online but see all kinds of different stories, not sure which are true and which are "paid" opinions. I've had good luck with Jeeps having had a Wrangler and a Grand Cherokee. Neither required any repairs, just kept changing the fluids as required. It's a 4wd so expect around 20 mpg on the highway.

Saw one at the lake with a very nice bike on the back of it (A Cervelo). The guy was racking his bike up as I was getting mine out of my lifted 4x4 Chevy. I couldn't resist asking "Does your smart haul that bike ok?" Guy was good natured and laughed. He showed it to me. Its cute but awful small....

My daughter is currently driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla. Just the right size for her and since the only time I get to drive it is to the gas station the 30+ MPG is good too... A cozy car for her and the boyfriend. You may wish to revisit the Corvette as it has no backseat.

When it comes time to help my daughter pick out a car, I am going to make sure it does not have a backseat... I'll pay the extra insurance money LOL Bill Engvall has a good strategy. Pull the boy aside and tell him "I got no problem going back to prison."

Pull the boy aside and tell him "I got no problem going back to prison." That's going to be my line. While I sit their cleaning my gun. On a similar note, while at a family gathering at my parents on Sunday, my niece and her boy friend "Ralph" as we like to call him, were in the game room down stairs with some of the cousins. When they all came up except the niece and her boy friend cause it was "getting to hot down stairs", my brother in law got up to go down and check on his daughter. That's when my brother's middle son (who is a hoot), started rocking in his seat and beating his head, I asked him what was the matter and he cried out in his best "christmas story voice" "Daddy's going to kill Ralphy"

Oldest daughters 1st date, I had my collection of firearms spread on the floor, I was just "assessing and cleaning" them. It was totally coincidental to the timing of the date. She kept going "MOM!?!?". All my ex and her little sister could do was giggle. PS I knew the kid and his family well.

Teej, if the car is in your name and he didnt have your permission, I'd call that stealing the car. Regardless of the insurance liablity, I would think his parents (if he is a minor) hold a certain financial liablity for the damage?

Regardless of the insurance liablity, I would think his parents (if he is a minor) hold a certain financial liablity for the damage? Well, it made no difference at all. I had given my daughter permission to drive the car and she gave him permission to use it. The Boyfriend™ ::involuntary eye twitch:: did reimburse me my deductible but the father... well.... he nearly got arrested for public drunkenness when the police arrived on the scene of the accident. He (the father) was actually killed in a drunk driving accident a few months after this happened (no one else was injured).

No, he is still around. I can not blame him for the way his father behaved. The man physically abused the kid a couple of times that I know of and on the night of the accident, the kid was trying to get his clothes so he didn't have to stay there that night.
He is basically a good kid - though he's very immature and gets on my nerves. I am hoping some day my daughter will move on but I know anything I do to hasten that is very likely to backfire on me so I bite my tongue....

Well, it made no difference at all. I had given my daughter permission to drive the car and she gave him permission to use it. Bull honkey! You can give permission because it is your car, she does not have the authority to give him permission to steal your car, or use it without YOUR expressed permission. I say grand theft auto.

Believe me, I explored all possibilities with the police who investigated the accident and the insurance company. I'm stuck with the situation for the next 3 years or so with my insurance.
