I've been trying to find salary survey information for chairman of the board, but cannot find anything anywhere......
Do most banks not pay their chairman a salary?

I am guessing most banks do not want to reveal/admit how much their chairman make as a salary.

Possibly, but for public companies, it's public, right?

Much of will depend, size of organization, profitiability, whether the Chairman is also a working executive in the bank, etc. There are a lot of wildcards.

IBAT publishes a compensation and salary survey.

As does TBA - I have been reviewing that information, but it is pretty sketchy at best ...... my surmise is that either bank's our size/age/etc aren't reporting or aren't paying....oh well, fun wearing the HR hat every now and then....
We did not participate in IBAT's this year, and the cost is pretty substantial to purchase.

Rowles has one that list out even board fees. ABA has a salary survey but not as detailed as Rowles for Board Members.

In two of the banks where I worked the "Chairman of the Board" had no active duties beyond running the board meeting (based on an agenda made up by the CEO). The third one made every bank decision worth making.

With that kind of variation in responsibilities, it may be difficult to find valid comparisons.
