I come from a long line of Lutheran church basement women. I have seen jello in all it's many forms and will no longer eat jello unless it is served straight up with maybe some whipped cream on top. Surprised (and not pleasantly) one too many times!
I think the exception to my rule would be cherry coke jello salad. ::ears perk up:: Do tell?? <Also a Lutheran girl. PK, no less.>

J My outlaws make this green jello crud that has pinapple and cottage cheese in it.  Their family goes nuts over it. My sons love our version - lime jello with crushed pineapple mixed with cool whip and mini marshmallows. It has a light, fluffy texture

Can't believe all the people dissin' sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are awesome.
Sci_Comply, do they also do chocolate covered potato chips? Those are gross.

Black-eyed peas are bad enough, but when stewed with okra, this will make you sick! These are the kinds of southern veggies that should only be found in the pig trough.

has anyone mentioned fruitcake? Initially it was said to be a given that this was a bad holiday treat. That being said...my grandma makes one that's pretty darn good! Granted it soaks up a whole bottle of brandy over the few weeks before Christmas, so even if you don't like it, you will by the third or fourth bite!

I don't know about the cat, but I sure am enjoying it. That's funny, cause when I go through the line at Christmas, my standing joke with the kids is, "Look the cat got sick again"

I have a great recipe that uses apples baked in the sweet potato casserole and then it's topped with marshmallows and you toast it. It is really good!
