Okie, I'm so sorry! My dad has been a practicing vet for over 50 years and I have yet to come up with a way to properly console someone in this situation. To use the term "pet" is so inadequate. They lift your life and you lift theirs. Try to know that you are making the best choice for her and know that she will forever live in your heart and rest with God. Corky is still with us and will celebrate her 16th birthday on Tuesday. She is an old girl but still doing ok. The ladies in my department are calling her "Timex" because she takes a licking and keeps on ticking. She still has plenty quality of life and just keeps going. We are lucky to have had her this long! If you have ever had a Jack own you before you know how awesome they are.

Congratulations on Corky's 16th birthday!! I hope some home made dog biscuits are on the menu.

Corky, my 16 y/o Jack Russell crossed the Rainbow Bridge Friday, May 10th. I was holding her when she went. The vet was coming out to the house that afternoon to put her to sleep but she passed away around 10:00 that morning. I miss that face.

Granted, I haven't had a dog pass in a while but the last time it happened I would just think...

It's not goodbye, it's just "see ya later". You can be happy knowing that when you reach the pearl gates that your buddy will be there wagging her tail for you.

My dog is going in for his second surgery to remove a cancerous tumor tomorrow.

Good luck and let us know how the surgery goes! What a coincidence - in memory of my Corky I pledged $30 yesterday to a dog to have a cancerous tumor removed from her head. (((hugs backatcha)))!

Aww thanks guys. He's in surgery right now.

It's amazing how our pets become so close to us, part of the family. I think I've done a good job of not spoiling my dog and keeping in a separate rank than the rest of the family but yet here we are 10 years later and I couldn't feel closer to him.

I'm sure your heart will hold fond memories of Corky forever.
