I don't buy the argument that players in pro sports have a shorter earning career and that is why they need bigger checks and a pension...If I were an average NHL player and making $500,000 per year and played 10 years, I've earned $5,000,000 over the course of the contract. There aren't too many people over the course of a 45 year working careeer outside of professional sports that make this kind of money...you'd have to make just over $111,111 per year for 45 years to make that...and only 34% of companies in America still offer pensions, and that percentage decreases annually...

A good percentage of the pro sports players if it was not for sports would be involved in illegal activity (dealing drugs, theft (see current bengals)) and may have had a greater earining potenial. Super excited that there will be hockey!!!! 50 games is better than no games. Hooray!
I don't attend games anymore cuz the ticket prices are exorbitant, but it's far better tv viewing than most of the "reality" garbage that's on in the evenings.

Hm. The "ice girls" here just sweep the ice every once and awhile. No cheerleading. I'd love to get to a Mighty Mighty Blackhawks game, but I know all the tickets will be unfairly overpriced now that the season is shortened.

I've never been to a hockey game and I'm thinking this might be a great year to get reduced priced tickets as a lot of people might be just a weeeeeeeeeeee it perturbed about the strike.

I have attended hockey games, both professional and minor league...for entertainment, minor league is better as they do much more to involve the fan base...fast game, exciting in person, boring on TV...the only sport i'd say is more entertaining in person was when I attended the Brazil v Netherlands semi-final in the 94 world cup...nothing compares to live soccer with rabid national team fans...
baseball, football, and basketball, have attended all at the professional level...they pale in comparison...
