Hard copy - still working through "Name of the Wind."

Audible - "Matched" by Ally Condie.

KINDLE grin - "Vertical Run" by Joseph Garbur. An old favorite. I don't get much Kindle time though because the kids keep stealing it.

Started on "A Team of Rivals" (the book on which the movie "Lincoln" is based). It reminded me how much I enjoyed reading Shelby Foote's trilogy "Civil War" a few years ago and I switched to that. I started with my paperback copy and realized that my eyes aren't that good anymore. So, I bought it again, downloading it to the Kindle. As it's about 3,000 pages, I'll be busy for awhile. grin

Just finished Beyond the Beautiful Forever, by Katherine Boos. Non-fiction focuing on the lives of certain individuals living in the Mumbai slums. Every once in a while I like to get out of my fiction comfort zone. I usually read accounts of life in Africa or elsewhere. This time it was India. I came across true city slums where we visited Portugal one year. Riding a taxi out of Lisbon there was a virtual village set up along the hillside. Covered in shacks made out of all kinds of materials. I am sure Mumbai was 10 times worse but it takes your breath away to see this for the first time, esp. in a densely populated area. The book is to the point and is easy to read without being too preachy, from the author's perspective. You do get acquainted with a number of people. Boos spent about 3 years living in the area and working on this book. I won;t say too much more but it sheds a rather stark light on just how miserable some poeple's lives are and how, hope as they may, it doesn't appear they can escape their existance.

Purple, I'm good friends with Patton's grandson, who lives in the Charleston, SC area. He is a fellow pilot and has some really cool Patton memorabilia in his hangar, including one of Patton's WWII jeeps.

Listening to "Matched" by Allie Conde. Let me just say, Katniss or Tris would eat Casia's lunch. Even Lena is stronger in her first book.

Looking at his website, it looks like I have some catching up to do.

Michael Connelly is the best crime fiction writer in America bar none.

I so agree! Finished the series and it's good to fill in time. Now I CAN WAIT for the final Insurgent book!!

Have you read the Delirium series? It's pretty good. Not Hunger Games good but I think I liked it better than the Insurgent series. I'm looking forward to the final Insurgent book too.

I'm not sure I'm going to go on with the Matched series. It's going to have to get a LOT better in the 2nd half.

E.B.G, I haven't read Delirium--will check that out. Matched: I trudged through the series. There were some good parts but overall maybe you should check something else out?

Dazey, I think you'll enjoy it. I was trying to not read it until the final book was closer to being released. Now I'll just have to re-read the first two.

Yeah, I am going to finish this one but not planning to read the next. I think you would like Delirium! The 2nd book is particularly good (especially the ending!)

I need to start re-reading The Outlander series. The 8th book is due out at Christmas.

out of the frying pan...
I have gotten completely sucked in by the YA series "Beautiful Creatures." In 5 days I've read almost 3 of the 4 books. I say "almost" because I've still got a couple of chapters left in #3. smile

I've started reading the Bible like any other book. It's "The Message" translation so works better to read it as a book. Wonder How long it will take?
