Is Michigan a "dry lien" state? Asked another way, can mortgage liens continue when there is no balance (due to the possibility of future advances). My understanding is that Michigan is not a "dry lien" state but I do not know the citation.

I believe the Michigan Future Advance Mortgages Act cleared this up. Check MCLA 565.901, here. Essentially, lien priority is now based on the recording of the mortgage, and not the date of the various advances. BOL user Howard Lax likely has more background...
