Our IT area (offsite) sends an e-mail every day at about 2:00 and lists e-mails that have been picked up by the spam filter just to verify they aren't spam. Today I got one that said:
'Payroll Account Holded by Intuit'
Holded?

I hate hearing the word "texts" pronounced "text-ez". Or really...more like "texas".

Since when did they become interchangeable? I think some head thumping should be put into place when they are used inappropriately. Those people should of known the difference between the different spellings.

Also (along the lines of Cheekee's comment), Please dont ask me if I "know what your sayin'" more than once....EVER! The odds are good that yes I do know, if we are both speaking English.... I just dont give a carp.

I know I'm from the generation that changes the spelling of words in order to make them sound how they are said. Ex. Werd instead of Word, Dood instead of Dude I doona mind.

And why is it that bankers have a problem spelling the words commercial, withdrawal, and compliance? You would think we've typed those words enough times to know how to spell them.

Or the use of "seen" instead of "saw" as in "I seen this sign at lunch today". This puts me over the edge.

How about when somone is telling a story, and they "go" and "goes" instead of said and says. I was listening to a friend of a friend tell some story and 45% of what he said was "go", "goes" and "like". It drove me batty!

I hate the misuse of sale and sell also - especially on credit approvals. 'The loan will be repaid when the house sales'. Geesh!

One of my pet peeves is when someone ends a sentence with so or but...
"I'm not in the mood, so..."
"We decided that it isn't worth it, but..."

One of my pet peeves is when someone spells the word Tanq, Tank.

OMG - I sew no wear your coming from on this topic...
and let us not forget those who say "debt" and "Credit" as "debic" and "credic"...
or my employee who called and couldn't come to work because of "loose vowels". Loose vowels? Your "a, e, i o and u" are loose?

There, Their, & They're
Since when did they become interchangeable? I think some head thumping should be put into place when they are used inappropriately. I got my 14 year old son a shirt for Christmas that says, "There. Their. They're not the same." He would wear it every day if I'd let him!

They say english is one of the most difficult languages to learn. Who said. I have an article on the internet (so it must be true)that says otherwise http://mylanguages.org/difficult_languages.phpArabic, Cantonese, Japanese are said to be the hardest, based on the approximate learning expectations compiled by the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the US Department of State. Finnish, Hungarian, and Estonian are also among the hardest because of the countless noun cases. The Pronunciation is even harder than in Asian languages as they usually have long tong twisting consonants.

Alternatively, when this occurs, you should start your reply with "answer" every single time...
I tend to do that... Or if someone says "I have a question", I say "I have an answer. Do you think they might be a matching set?"
