we have a mlo who wants to use a excel estimate of closing costs sheet to hand out along with the GFE. It is to give the applicant an idea of what he will need to bring to closing.
anyone have any opinion on this. i did check out the formulas and it looks ok.

As long as it is not called a Good Faith Estimate, it is permissible. I believe that this scenario is addressed in one of the RESPA Round Ups, but can't take the time to find the exact location.

The loan officers that wanted to provide somthing like this to customers did so but like DD said, it can not be called GFE. We also did not retain a copy in our file as is was just for customer information.
