Question for Kindle users.....
On the Kindle can you set up different lists / folders or something, for different people's books? Say I have Game of Thrones and The Lightning Thief, can I set up a folder or a playlist or something so that I can jumpt to GOT easily but The Grasshopper can go directly to LT? Or possibly a different list / folder for library / lent books?
(It's the Paperwhite, if that makes a difference.)

You can create collections for your Kindle. I create collections by author and sort my ebooks that way. To me, the "collections" are just folders and you could create them and sort your books however you like. Is that what you are looking for?

Yes, thank you! So I could have a collection for me, a collection for each of the kids, and a library or lent books collection? <I don't have the product in hand yet, or I'd just play with it until I figured it out.>

Oh yes, it is very easy to do on the Kindle.

I have a method similar to Sarah's - my collections are mostly by author, but I also have a few more generic categories such as "Classics," and "Anthologies." It makes keeping up with what is still TBR and I've already read much easier, because I don't move books into a collection until I've finished reading them.

I think the Paperwhite is mostly old-school too. No tablet capabilities. That's what I was looking for, anyway.

I got a Paperwhite for Christmas. It's more like the original Kindle in that it is just for books (there's an "experimental browser," but no apps that I am aware of) and has the e-ink display (with the cool lighting feature), but it is like the Fire in that it is a touch screen (no keyboard or advance buttons, that's all done through the touch screen feature).
I love the Paperwhite, and was initially reluctant to upgrade, but when I tried my wife's, I really got hooked. It's also much more compact than my Kindle keyboard. Amazon makes a nice case for it as well, which I got and really like. If you like the Kindle and want to upgrade and keep the old-school Kindle feel, the Paperwhite's the way to go.

Thank you, DF! I did quite a bit of research and *thought* the PW was what I wanted, but it is so nice to have a 'real life' person weigh in on it.

Except mine are by series and then author mostly.

Can you do collections within collections? Could you have "DRESDEN FILES" collection and within that have separate READ / NOT READ sets? (Not that there are any I haven't read, just using that as an example.)

Now shut up and eat your cake.

I have the Kindle Keyboard. I set up Collections, but the individual books still appear in the list. I was disappointed that I could not truly organize my Home page. When I have time, I also want to go into my Collections and put series books in order somehow, perhaps adding a number to the title, at least so I know which book is next in the series. I know the Kindle sorts them by the last time they were accessed.

Or at least if you can, I can't figure out how. I have to say, the Kindle is not nearly as easy to set up as an i-Product. Not as user friendly and definitely not plug-n-play, like the i-Stuff is.

Okay, so how did you set up your Kindle? I just charged mine and started buying books. Haven't tried creating folders or anything.

BB - this is how I did it. There may be faster / easier ways to do all of this, but the manual is on the Kindle and not in paper format.
First step, get it onto a wifi network. (THAT took us FOREVER to figure out. Our system is locked down and the device doesn't have a 'name' until you register it - and you can't register it until you can get on a wifi network.)
Then go into the Menu (the icon looks like a bunch of stacked lines, it isn't labeled MENU or anything helpful) and establish your basic settings like the name of the device, time you want it to use, etc.
I think the Collections button is also under Menu (I don't have it with me so forgive me if I'm wrong.) You want to set up a New Collection if you want to organize books - I have one for me and one for each kid; you might want to do Read / Unread or by genre, author, etc.
You can use Amazon.com to transfer your books to your Kindle - go to the Kindle storefront and Manage Devices. Send to your Kindle. If you have properly set it up on the wifi, the books should sync to your Kindle if they haven't already shown up. I think if you hit CLOUD (top left corner, under the home button) it will also look for books to sync as well.
Once you have a Collection started, you tap on it to open and then once you're inside, you can select which books to add to that collection. Books can appear in multiple collections.
That's as far as I have gotten.
