Our marketing department and a few of our branches are thinking about having something like a canned food drive with the branches serving as collection points. It would be for a couple of weeks this summer and there would be boxes in the branches where people could bring in their donations and it would be given to the local food bank.

They are also thinking about creating a flyer that explains the program, gives some info about the food bank and the need to raise funds and donate food. The flyer wouldn't specifically ask for a donation, but the intent is certainly there. There would be no advertisement of bank products on this flyer.

Can this type of event be done? What regulations would govern something like this?

Thanks!!

I have seen multiple banks run these types of promotions and have never heard of compliance issues with this.
