Can anyone suggest a good manual in learning how to perform a trust audit?

I would start with the FDIC Trust Examination Manual.

Irwin Publishing has a few good resources - Trust Audit Guide and The Trust Risk Management Manual. You can purchase through Buy.com.

Also would recommend Cannon Financial Resource Library.

Thanks. Someone else had mentioned the trust audit manual by Irwin Publishers. I've not been able to find it, even at buy.com. Any suggestions?

It may be possible that the Trust Audit Guide is out of print (I believe it had a copyright date in the early 90s).

I do know that both the Audit Guide and the Trust Risk Management Tool are authored by the same person.

The AICPA has a book entitled Guide to Audits of Financial Institutions that has a chapter covering the activities of
a Trust Department, but this is quite high-level.

Good Luck.

Try outsourcing the Trust audit for a few years to a someone with a certified trust auditor. That is what we ended up doing. We participate during the audit, so that we can learn how to do it. It is much easier than following a manual.
