I go to jog.fm (Jen recommended it I think). Enter in your running speed or bpm that you want and they will give you a list of songs that match (or show you other user's play lists at the same speed). You can sort by genre.

They have a new app too, that I need to try. I guess it works with your music to find a song with an appropriate bpm in your playlists.

OMgoodness - I love You Should Be Dancing - Bee Gees! Never though to put that on a running list!

No workout mix is complete without T-Pain "Church". If that doesn't get you up and moving, I don't know what will.

I've been using Daft Punk's live album from 2007 "Alive" for running. I can just press play and let it go! smile

PS> LOVE seeing Muse on your playlists. Good stuff. grin

The Party Ben mash-ups are pretty good, and you can download them for free.

A CU, Where Regs Don't Apply
I have none, but with the pending limitations on free Pandora access, I may consider it. There are definitely months I'm over 40 hours of access, I use probably 25 hours just when working out!

Matt_B - have you tried iHeartRadio? I use that over pandora all the time now. Just got tired of hearing the same 10-15 songs over and over on pandora.

Thanks for the heads up on the jog.fm app, QCL! Will have to try it tonight.

I have the app on my phone actually, but rarely use it. I'm sure if I browse the stations I'll be able to find something decent. If nothing else, I can use that for the days when I turn music on at my desk and let it go for 8 hours!

I found that adding variety was a good option for Pandora. I have a station that combines 4-5 different stations that I like, and the repeat is pretty minimal. That being said, when not mixed I've definitely experienced significant redundancy in songs.

Everytime I hear "You Should Be Dancing" now, I dont even think about "Saturday Night Fever" anymore. All I can think of is "Despicable Me"! laugh

I love jogfm so hard! I had a lot of trouble slowing my pace while training for this half, but putting together a playlist at the desired pace helped me so much. And once I'm back in 5K mode I already have a playlist waiting for me...

Someone suggested Rock my Run for playlists, but I didn't like it much at all.

My favorite Pandora station for running is my InnerPartySystem station. Basically electronica music, but 95% of the songs have lyrics. Lots of IPS, Daft Punk, Nero, Morgan Page, OceanLab, Gemini, etc. Sometimes it throws in some old Crystal Method, that's always an intersting changeup.

Where the heart is
I like Young the Giant but I can't see any of their songs doing it for a cardio work.

But what about going old school?

Roundabout - Yes

You could use the first 45 seconds to pause and drink some water, tie your shoes, or wipe off with a towel...

Quote:

The music dance and sing
They make the children really ring
I spend the day your way
Call it morning driving thru the sound and in and out the valley

In and around the lake
Mountains come out of the sky and they stand there
One mile over we'll be there and we'll see you
Ten true summers we'll be there and laughing too
Twenty four before my love you'll see I'll be there with you

Note to self....needs more cowbell

I am now a fan of jog.fm. When you are staring down the last mile of the run and Beastie Boys "Sabotage" is followed by The Darkness "I Believe in a Thing Called Love"...now that's a good way to finish a run! In fact, even though my distance was up I kept running until The Darkness was over...I just hope I wasn't singing out loud in that high pitch! blush
