There's No Place Like Texas!
Could someone please clarify "no abbreviations" on the new CTR for me? I was under the impression that we could not abbreviate any portion of the address on the new CTR? Now I'm not so sure about that...after speaking to another institution they stated that FinCEN would accept the standard U.S. Postal Service abbreviations such as Rd for road, St for street, Ave for avenue, etc.?

There is a prohibition in the instructions for CTR filing on use of abbreviations for place names. The place name must agree with the official name used by the USPS. So, for example, "ST LOUIS" should not be used in place of "SAINT LOUIS."

But I see no prohibition on use of "RD" or "AVE" and the like
