We recently discovered that our IAT reports now include SSA ACH direct deposits. In most instances our customer has a foreign residence, although a few profiles are totally domestic. In those cases the IAT credit still reflects a foreign location (probably based on info provided by the recipient). As these transactions don't involve a foreign bank we couldn't understand why they were appearing as IAT's. When asked why, the Social Security Administration responded that they will process as an IAT any payment where the recipient's record indicates a foreign country, regardless of whether or not the recipient bank is foreign or domestic. Has anyone else run into this problem?
