I'm trying to access all local news channels on-line here at work and they must jammed b/c I can't find out a lot. Being in MA and having many family and friends that went or participated, I'm praying everyone is ok. What a tragedy. So many people hurt.

Fox News reporting at least 3 people dead according to law enforcement officials.

Just reported, a third bomb has gone off. Yes, bombs. Ball bearings found, used in bombs. OMG, I hope this isn't another 9/11......

MSNBC reported that the race was being run in honor of the Newtown families, some of whom may be among the injured. This not verified - lots of rumors. It would be even more chilling if it was true. God Bless those involved.

Holy [self censored]. I have friends there as do others here. I desperately hope this is some sort of horrible accident. Thoughts and prayers for all envolved and for all the brave souls that are already trying to help.

from the news reports it does not appear to be an accident...i've not seen anything stating ball bearings found, and i'm sure an official statement will not be for some time. Have also not seen anything about a group claiming credit.

Boston Police tweeted 23 injured, 2 dead at 4:05 EDT.

Watching NBC footage, supposed to be a press conference any minute. The footage is very saddening and depressing. These people should be celebrating a great accomplishment, but instead are being carried off on stretchers, huddled and crying, very disturbing.

a 3rd bomb exploded near the JFK Library, and police have found and dismantled 2 others...

News showing 2 hurt and 49 injured now. Many prayers going to Boston from Oklahoma.

This is so sad.

Cell phone service has been shut down to prevent remote detonation. We were able to confirm that a close friend finished 10 minutes before the first blast. Other friends I don't know about. My heart aches for all those involved. What a terrifying thing.

A running friend crossed 2 minutes before. She saw and felt it all. She, her fiance and sister are fine.

My boss has a couple of people she trains with there to compete, all had completed the race, but one was still at the finish waiting for someone else to get done. No injuries, but was close enough to the chaos to see some of the injured. Luckily some correspondence got sent out prior to the cell coverage being shut down so family/friends were aware they were safe.

I'm so glad that your frineds are safe.
